Automai Implements Testing and Monitoring Solution for Cambridge Health Alliance

AppsWatch installation reduces troubleshooting time, enables proactive, centralized monitoring

Wednesday, November 11, 2014

Los Angeles, CA – Automai, a leading developer of software quality assurance solutions and services, announced the implementation of its AppsWatch solution at Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA), in Cambridge, MA. AppsWatch has helped CHA cut troubleshooting time by 70% and enabled remote monitoring of the IT systems at 21 satellite locations.

CHA, an innovative healthcare organization dedicated to delivering essential services to over 140,000 patients in the Greater Boston area, provides primary care, specialty care, emergency services, hospital care, and behavioral health services. It also operates the Cambridge Public Health Department and serves as a teaching hospital for Harvard and Tufts Universities.

As a result of end user complaints regarding slow performance and sluggish response, the IT Ops group was forced to devote an inordinate amount of resources working on site at the various locations. A lack of central monitoring or view of the entire system made it difficult to determine whether the problems were the result of network, server, or application issues. Working closely with the Global team, CHA implemented AppsWatch to remotely manage end user experience and monitor the organization’s two core IT applications.

“AppsWatch had the specific details we needed,” said Edgar Iraheta, Network Engineer for Wireless for CHA. “They were able to immediately integrate with Epic and Meditech and mimic users’ views on those applications. Not many other applications out there were able to do that.”

Once implemented, CHA was able to investigate problems quickly by remotely checking end users’ workstations. They were also able to more effectively test applications using AppsWatch protocol-independent technology. The strain on IT resources has been significantly reduced and root cause corrective actions have been simplified.

“AppsWatch presents a new approach to tackling the ultimate performance monitoring challenge,” said Lywan Kummer, VP of Marketing at NRG Global. “IT ops can now measure availability and response times of any application from the perspective that matters most – that of the end user.”

“We got the results we were looking for with AppsWatch,” Iraheta summed up. “This has worked out really well for us.”
